when I started to read this chapter i thought that how can things we see every day may not be real? or how things we have been teached scince we were small kids may be not true? after reading I realised that true is a variable. what thoes this means, that there are lots of truths for the same thing example: the sun. if we see the diferents points of view of the sun of the diferents cultures around the world we can see that they refer to the sun as a god, others like source of life, if we talk about poetry they might refer the sun as joy or happines, etc. the problem comes when this cultures crash, they are talking about the same things but with diferents words, this might even lead to war, example: the cold war, if we remember the cold war started because the comunism and the capitalist forms of goverment. all what this goverments wanted was the best for their people but by diferents methods. for this kind of problems that can arise from who is saying the true exist reason. reason is the method which we need to follo in order to aboid confrontation for the diferents point of truth. it is up to reason that the problem may be solved peacefully. because remember, "there are not absolut truths only some truths more real than others".
i thing that savatar says one smart thing, "there are always things to check" this is true, if we know at least something about the world is thar is always in change, so it is of vital importance that we check what we know so we dont stay behind.

jose youre post is very interesant it made me think about the thruts i know , like you say every thing its a variable things are allways changing so we cannot now alot of diferetn trues, but we cannot live our lives allways questioning about the trues or the things we now
ReplyDeleteyour example of the cold war is interesting but you used it for saying reason can make 2 different results, not leading to war.
ReplyDeletean example of a "war" derived from one thing in 2 different field is (heh) philosophy. as some scientists could say its worthless because it doesnt apply a scientific method to get to a exact solution, Philosophers could say it is the only real way to find the truth. Notice how these 2 groups describe the same thing yet they are in conflict? War.
P.D: Check your spelling when posting xD
